About the Jobs Database

The aim of the Global Focus Aotearoa Development Work database is to provide a networking tool for our clients that assists them in both advertising and finding development employment opportunities. Our database houses development related jobs, volunteer positions and internships, contracts and consultancies.

The information provided below explains how you can use the jobs database both if you are looking for a job or if you want to advertise one. Make sure you read the terms and conditions at the end of this document.

Who needs to pay to advertise work?

Non-governmental, non-profit organisations involved in development work do not need to pay to submit work on the Development Work Database and should select ‘not-for-profit’ when entering job details.

All other organisations – including government departments, intergovernmental organisations and recruitment agencies advertising on behalf of NGOs – need to pay to submit work on the database and should select ‘for profit’.

Health ministries of Pacific Island governments may post jobs for free through the PHRHA scheme. Please see below for further details on how to use this service.

Before we validate any jobs submitted as NGO/not-for-profit we will check to see if the submitting organisation qualifies to submit jobs free of charge. If you are unsure whether your organisation qualifies please send us an email.

There are two payment options for the submission of jobs onto the jobs database.

Individual listing - NZ$50 per job

This amount entitles you to the advertisement of one vacancy only, for up to 3 months. Organisations based in Aotearoa New Zealand will have to pay GST of 12.5% on top of this fee (NZ$56.25).

Annual Subscription - NZ$3000

This lets you submit as many jobs as you want over a year. Please note that purchase of an annual subscription does not mean that Global Focus Aotearoa guarantees to validate all jobs submitted. Jobs which do not meet the criteria outlined below will not be submitted regardless of whether an organisation has an annual subscription or not. Organisations based in New Zealand will have to pay GST of 12.5% on top of this fee (NZ$$3,375.00).

Inappropriate or fraudulent jobs will not be validated under any circumstances.

The credit card system accepts payments from MasterCard, Visa or American Express. Please contact us on jobs@globalfocus.org.nz if you are unable to pay by these methods.

Once Global Focus Aotearoa has received notification of payment and confirmed that the job offer meets the criteria outlined below, the job will be validated and posted to the Global Focus Aotearoa website. We aim to have all jobs validated within two working days of submission

Non-profit, non-governmental organisations -

You do not need to pay for your job listings, once submitted, they will be validated by a Global Focus Aotearoa staff member and posted to the website.

Pacific Health Workforce -

Pacific countries wanting to post health vacancies through the Pacific Human Resources for Health Alliance scheme should contact Barbara Lakepa at the WHO, lakepab@wpro.who.int. Ms Lakepa will post the vacancies to the Global Focus Aotearoa website.

We aim to have all jobs validated within two working days of submission. Jobs which do not meet the criteria outlined in our terms and conditions below will not be validated.

All listings on our database are also sent out once (when they are a new posting) in our fortnightly Global Focus Aotearoa Development Work email update and will expire either on the expiry date you list or after 3 months, whichever comes first.

If you have any problems submitting work, please contact Global Focus Aotearoa on info@globalfocus.org.nz, 04 496 9597.

Pacific Human Resources for Health Alliance (PHRHA)

The overall aim of the PHRHA is to strengthen the health workforce capacity of countries in the Pacific region to meet their health needs and improve health outcomes. This includes building on the strengths of regional and global partnerships and networks to support and disseminate human resource research methods and findings.

The PHRHA has developed a vacancy notice board through Global Focus Aotearoa for Pacific island countries (Ministries of Health) to advertise/share their in-country vacancies for all cadres of health workers – medical, nursing and allied health.
